MEDIA RELEASE23rd October 2008Preview of the Thailand International Cricket Sixes TournamentThe inaugural Thailand International Cricket Sixes Tournament gets underway this Saturday 25th October at the Harrow International School in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament is being organised by the award winning Asian Cricket Sixes Tour, in conjunction with the Southerners Cricket Club of Bangkok. The event has attracted a fantastic mix of ten international teams and competitors from around Thailand, Asia and the World. The hosts, The Southerners are fielding two teams consisting of players who are experienced competitors in the Bangkok cricket scene. The international touring club, the CBB’s will have three sides present, with their squads consisting of players flying in from as far-flung places as England, Switzerland, Australia, Korea and India. Asian Tour regulars, The Bounty Buccaneers of Malaysia, travel hoping to add to their two trophies already earned in Phuket and Shanghai earlier this year. One of the tournament favourites will be Etihad CC who hail from the United Arab Emirates if their form in previous Sixes tournaments is to be taken as a guide. The Shanghai Dragons travel from China and are also expected to make a major impact. Jakarta Rebels are a multi-cultural team from the dark depths of the Jakarta Cricket Association League in Indonesia who may spring a surprise or two on the Tour regulars. The final entrants are The Rough-Edged Gents who are a new, young side who have risen from the obscurity of Pattaya cricket in Thailand. The tournament promises excellent competitive cricket, played in the spirit of the game as well as providing participants with ample opportunity to socialise. On Friday the Opening Cocktail Party is being staged at the Londoner Brew Pub in Sukhumvit Soi 33, with a barbeque the following evening at The Crossbar in Sukhumvit Soi 23. The teams are staying at the Official Hotel the Chaophya Park Hotel and Resort, who have worked tirelessly with the ACST in the build up to the event. Spectators are welcome to watch the games at the Harrow International School, which is adjacent to Don Muang Airport, just off the tollway. Admission is free and refreshments are available at the ground. Media contact: |
